Wild Planet sardines are meaty and scale-free, and pair perfectly with Gochujang sauce, soy sauce, fresh lime juice and rice. Finished with a fried egg and some green onions, this dish is packed with flavorful and nutrition.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Gochujang sauce

  • 1 Tbsp Ponzu or Soy sauce with a squeeze of lime

  • 1/2 to 1 Tbsp Maple syrup or brown sugar

  • 1 (4.4oz) can Wild Planet Wild Sardines in Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • 2 cups of Brown rice

  • 2 Eggs

  • Salt & pepper (for the fried eggs)

  • Green onions (for garnish)

Directions

  1. In a bowl, mix Gochujang sauce, Ponzu, and maple syrup. Mix until well combined.

  2. Prep the sardines; drain the olive oil in one tin and leave the other with olive oil.

  3. In a hot pan, add the sardines with olive oil and drained sardines. Let the sardines cook for about 1 minute, then add the Gochujang sauce.

  4. Carefully combine the sauce with the sardines, and let it cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side

  5. If your pan is big enough, add the two eggs and fry them in with Gochujang sauce, or fry the eggs separately.

  6. Serve immediately over brown rice, and garnish with green onions.
